/Ice Cream Monday/

photo (4)

A couple years ago, I would've described my feelings for Mondays in three words: the Monday blues. But now I know there ain't nothin a little ice cream can't fix. Well, in this case, a lot of ice cream.

Wearing a vintage blouse, Zara pants and shoes, and Michael Kors watch.

I wore this outfit with the intention of shooting outside, but the weather just would not let me. Frankly, i was admittedly relieved and quite happy 'cause that means taking a detour to a little place called Mad Mark's for my favorite ice cream. This place honestly gives the best bang for your buck ice cream in Manila. I'm sorry I didn't take any pictures, but you know how it goes... Taste buds over matter.

Wearing an H&M top and belt, 7 For All Mankind jeans, Aldo shoes, Michael Kors watch, bag and sunnies, Ralph Lauren necklace worn as bracelet and BCBG Max Azria ring.

These high-waisted bell bottoms serve as a nostalgic purchase for me since they were one of the first things I bought when I was living in New York for a bit last year. Given that you've found a really good pair that provides the perfect length for your body, bell bottoms have the tendency to successfully accentuate the waist and legs in a supremely feminine way. I was really lucky with these since they do just that and are incredibly comfortable, something that's always essential for me when buying clothes. Comfort aside, I throw these on largely in part because it reminds me so much of my New York days.

I'm currently reading a book called Escape From Camp 14 by Blaine Harden, a non-fiction about a North Korean prison camp survivor and how he was able to escape the inhumane treatment that still occurs all throughout the repressive totalitarian state. It's a stray from my usual lineup of self-help/motivational/entrepreneurial books, and is thus one of the most compelling books I've ever read in my life. The events that occurred in the book open up a whole new array of thoughts that can make the reader feel both appreciative of the small things that make life such a blessing and at the same time, can make the reader feel an extreme amount of compassion and utter disheartenment as to why, at this day in age, can there still be a country who operates a present day concentration camp and nobody in the world is doing anything to stop it. I highly recommend you read this book... It's definitely an eye opener.

Til next time.

I'm sorry for not posting in awhile. This week I was preoccupied with hosting 2 events for work, squeezing in a movie of Mr. Boyfriend's choice (Pacific Rim to be exact -- though I'm not exactly a fan of mechs, alien monsters, and constant action throughout an entire movie, it surprisingly was not all that bad), reading and watching Eat, Pray, Love for the first time, planning even more future vacations after watching Eat, Pray, Love (I feel it is my moral imperative to eat as much as Julia Roberts did in every country I intend to visit in the near future, but who am I kidding... I eat as much as I can every chance I get) and making mood boards. Though I've been busy, I've reserved today to fulfill a somewhat daunting-yet-I-know-I'm-gonna-feel-so-good-afterwards task: cleaning out my closet.

Shout out and special thanks to Mr. Triple V for letting us use his beautiful house for this shoot and to Pio P. for taking some of my pictures included above.

I hope everyone is having a fantastic weekend!

Wearing a vintage pajama top, Forever 21 faux leather shorts, Zara shoes, H&M necklaces, BCBG Max Azria ring, and Forever 21 bracelet.

I'm all about comfort when it comes to dressing up (or down) and boy was I extremely ecstatic the day pajama tops (actually, pajamas in general) came to rule the fashion scene. Pajama dressing took over the runway, most recently and most memorably with Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, and Rochas. Some people would even go so far as to wearing just a robe and pajama pants out - Hugh Heffner style - and totally working the chic look, but I decided to contrast this slouchy top with a pair of high-waisted faux leather shorts I picked up at Forever 21 awhile back. To dress the look up even more, I decided to throw on a bunch of gold jewelry mostly because a.) I love gold and b.) I think gold suits my skin color best and c.) gold can easily dress any outfit up, no matter how casual.

I've sorta been going on a boxing craze lately, have been going the semi-vegetarian route for the past few months (with a few minor meat slips) now, and have even started meditating for a few minutes every morning before breakfast and I can honestly say that this clean way of living is probably one of the smartest things I've done for myself this year. Clean way of living + positive thoughts = HAPPY Pearl. I'm sure everyone in the world is out to find their own happiness and one way to start is with positive thoughts.

/Currently.../

As busy as my schedule is on a day-to-day basis - handling my day job to a strict workout regimen, my blog plus all the little tidbits in between - I still find the time to unwind through reading and watching/listening to any form of pop culture entertainment.

Last week, I currently finished reading:

Magic of Thinking Big
It's Not How Good You Are...
How to Win Friends

The choice of books that I currently read have dramatically shifted compared to a couple years ago when I was in college and would read books that were light, funny, and usually had a plot that circled relationships/friendships. I've always been into books on positivity, success, and self-awareness since I was young, but any and all types of books that contribute to my growth, happiness, and the attainment of my goals are really what I'm into these days... Just typing that made me feel old(er). But didn't anyone ever tell you that 26 is the new 20?

Over the weekend, my little cousins came to visit from Las Vegas and luckily were able to go on a mini Asian tour prior to hanging out with my brother and I. We hung out and watched:

despicable-me-2-poster-01

I'm not really big on cartoons (even when I was a kid), except for the usual round of Disney suspects, but surprisingly, I really enjoyed Despicable Me 2. I hadn't seen the first one, but I thought the plot and characters were really admirable and funny.

I started watching...

Sherlock

This show is definitely something different to the lineup of shows that I currently keep on rotation, but I'm glad my friend introduced me to it. Sherlock (the character) is a hybrid of House and Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory, dominated by a keen sense of detective-ness. All three characters have an overwhelming characteristic in common: being brilliantly weird.

I'm still currently listening to...

Magna Carta Holy Grail

God, this album's so good. From the classic hip hop style to the lyrics, Jay-Z can continue to say that he's retiring from music, but if he keeps releasing albums/songs out the way that he does, I really don't think he's going anywhere.

Watched this movie again for the 129,000th time...

Don't Tell Mom

This movie brings back so many feelings and memories from my childhood.

I'm currently into...

Good to Great
Escape from Camp 14

If you aren't already crushing on this chick along with the rest of the world, you will after seeing her newest campaign with Fendi...

fendi-ad-cara-02
fendi-ad-cara-01

fendi-cara-3

And if that didn't do it for ya, I've attached a little video of her from the DKNY campaign (just in case)...

I think this whole monochrome thing is really here to stay... well, at least with me. I've been having quite the obsession with all white things, and that includes colors that are in the white family. In this case, all cream things. I think I mentioned this in my previous post, but there's just something so crisp and sharp about a monochrome outfit.

My favorite part of the outfit? Probably this vintage blazer. It's one of the first things I bring along with me whenever I travel just because it handles chilly weather really well and at the same time it easily pretties up any outfit. Best thing about it is that I got it off Etsy at the cheap! Etsy's one of THE best places to find anything related to vintage, clothes and/or jewelry. It's really recommendable for those who are starting up a small/medium jewelry or clothes business and aren't exactly looking to shell out a load of money for a website, e-commerce program, and the whole nine, but are still trying to pursue a wide target market.

Hope everyone's having a lovely weekend!

I've been all about the monochrome life lately and what better way to do it than with my favorite color. I've had this top for the longest time now, and though I wear it with just about anything, it's also one of the first things to get wrinkled when worn. (Note to self: buy mini clothes steamer that can fit in my bag). Monochrome has been such a huge hit this past season, and it looks like white-on-white (on white) is here to stay for the long run... starting with me (see this post).

This week has been a great one so far, with new things to look forward to. Some of those things include: starting up with yoga + boxing classes again with a good friend of mine (after a 2 year hiatus of that exercise regimen), finishing up a fantastic book by David Schwartz called The Magic of Thinking Big -- probably one of the most inspirational self help books I've read thus far, and planning a 3-week long vacation to Chicago and Las Vegas during my favorite season, Fall.

/Currently Into.../

Interior design has always been a special interest of mine, whether it be through the admiration of various colors and textures when roaming around a new place or perusing through a specialized architecture book, but these days, I've been getting my interior design fix through Houzz. I was first introduced to this app towards the latter part of last year, but whenever I've earmarked my time to complete some pertinent work on my laptop, I always seem to get completely sidetracked and find myself satisfyingly wasting my time going through interior decor inspiration. There's just something so pleasurable looking at the spaces that people create and the furniture, decor and colors they acquire in order to proudly be able to call it their home.
